Inspired by the region of KwaZulu-Natal, this classic chakalaka made with carrots and baked beans, flavoured with Rajah Hot Curry Powder and Robertsons Paprika. 

Tips

Serve with savoury rice. 

Ingredients
  • 125 ml cooking oil
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 packet mixed peppers
  • 5 ml ( 1 tsp ) Rajah hot curry powder
  • 4 medium carrots peeled and julienned
  • 1 medium tomato grated
  • 400 gram ( 1 tin ) baked beans in tomato sauce
  • 10 gram ( 1 ) Knorrox chilli beef stock cube
  • 15 ml ( 2 tbsp ) Aromat peri-peri
Cooking Method
  1. Heat oil in a medium size pot, add onion, peppers and fry together until slightly brown in colour. Add Rajah Hot Curry Powder and continue to fry for a minute.

  2. Add grated carrots, tomato, baked beans, Knorrox Beef Stock Cube, and mix well.

  3. Add Aromat beef and simmer on medium to low heat stirring frequently until cooked or for 45 minutes.
