Curried Mince with Steamed Bread 
Ingredients

For The Steamed Bread:

  • 4 cups cake flour
  • 1 sachet instant yeast (10ml)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 4 tbsp sugar

For The Curried Mince:

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Rajah mild & spicy curry powder
  • 400 g beef mince
  • ½ cup frozen peas
  • 1 Knorrox beef stock cube
  • 2 tsp Robertsons mixed herbs
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp Knorr Rich Beef & tomato soup
Cooking Method

To Make The Steamed Bread:

  1. Place the cake flour into a bowl

  2. Add the dry yeast, sugar and salt

  3. Add the water and knead until smooth and elastic

  4. Place into a well-oiled bowl and allow to rise until double in size

  5. Place a saucer in a large pot and place the bowl on top.

  6. Cover the bowl halfway with water and bring to the boil

  7. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 25-30 minutes or until firm

  8. Remove from heat and allow to cool

To Make The Curried Mince

  1. In a pot, brown the onion in oil

  2. Add the Rajah Mild & Spicy Curry Powder and fry for 1 minute, stirring continuously

  3. Add the mince and fry until well browned

  4. Add the frozen peas, Knorrox Beef Stock Cube, Robertsons Mixed Herbs and water and allow to simmer for 20 minutes

  5. Just before done mix the Knorr Rich Beef & Tomato Soup with 4 tablespoons of water to make a smooth paste then stir it into the pot and simmer for a further 5 minutes to thicken

  6. Serve with wedges of steamed bread
