How To Cook Marvellous Millet
Millet isn’t difficult to prepare, there’s just a bit of a trick to it. Once you’ve learned how to prepare this nutritious grain, you’ll find that it has a multitude of uses in all types of dishes.
The simplest method of cooking is to boil the grain in water or with a Knorr stock pot until cooked and tender. You can also toast millet in a pan, to add a gentle nutty taste and aroma to your dish. 1 cup of raw millet makes about 2 cups of cooked millet.
The golden ratio is 1 cup of raw millet to 1 ½ cups water for cooking. Bring the water to a boil before adding the grain and reducing the heat, put a lid on the pot and allow the millet to cook until small holes appear in the surface. This is a sign that it is ready.

Due to its neutral taste, millet can be used for both savoury and sweet applications. It is often eaten as breakfast porridge by adding some yoghurt and honey. Millet can also be used as a gluten-free substitute to pasta or rice. Millet can even ground down and be used as a replacement to cake flour when baking.
