There is simply nothing better than a serving of crispy onion rings – serve them with steak or as a burger topping!

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 sachet KNORR White Onion Soup
  • 330 ml beer
  • Sunflower oil for deep frying
  • 3 onions, sliced into rings and separated


  • Combine cake flour and the contents of the sachet of KNORR White Onion Soup in a large bowl then whisk in the beer to make a smooth batter
  • Heat enough oil in a large frying pan – test to see if the oil is ready by dropping in a piece of onion, if ready the onion will start to sizzle
  • Place ¼ of the onions in the batter and coat evenly then transfer straight to the hot oil
  • Fry for 2-3 minutes or until crispy and golden brown
  • Remove from the oil and drain on paper towel
  • Repeat with the remaining onions and serve immediately
  • Tip – replace the beer with sparkling or soda water if you prefer
