All in One Mince and Butternut Pilaf

  • 30ml sunflower oil
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • 1½ cups long grain rice
  • 5ml Robertsons Cinnamon
  • 500g lean beef mince
  • 300g butternut, peeled and cubed
  • 1 sachet KNORR Savoury Mince Dry Cook-in-Sauce
  • 750ml water
  • Flaked almonds, toasted
  • Fresh coriander, roughly chopped


  • Heat sunflower oil in a large pot and sauté the onion and garlic until soft
  • Add the rice and cinnamon fry for 1 minute stirring continuously to coat the rice in oil
  • Add the beef mince and fry until well browned
  • Stir in the cubed butternut, contents of the sachet of KNORR Savoury Mince Dry Cook-in-Sauce and the water
  • Bring to the boil then reduce the heat and allow to simmer covered, stirring occasionally until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed
  • Add a little extra water as needed
  • Season to taste and garnish with flaked, toasted almonds and chopped coriander
