Sweet and sticky with a tangy ginger taste – this simple recipe will have your family begging for more!

  • 8 assorted chicken pieces
  • 15 ml sunflower oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 punnet (250 g) button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 sachet KNORR Tasty Minestrone Soup with Roberstons Mixed Herbs
  • 500 ml ginger beer


  • Preheat oven to 180C
  • Fry the chicken pieces in a hot pan until well browned on both sides (approx. 3 minutes per side) working in batches if necessary then transfer to an oven proof casserole dish
  • Add oil to the pan and fry the onion until soft and just starting to caramelise then add the mushrooms and fry for 5 -10 minutes
  • Arrange the onion and mushrooms over the chicken then whisk the contents of the sachet of KNORR Tasty Minestrone Soup with Roberstons Mixed Herbs together with the ginger beer
  • Pour the mixture over the chicken and bake in a preheated oven at 180 C for 40 -45 minutes or until the chicken has cooked through and the sauce has thickened
  • Tip – add a little grated fresh ginger to the ginger beer mixture to give the dish that extra ginger kick!
